The Pin-up

Inspired by the Glamour Masters.

This exhibition is an exploration of the illustration during the 40's and 50's by some of the masters of the "cheese cake" or "pin-up" illustrators.

Rolf Armstrong had a classic painter style. He created long lines and classic, elegent poses
Gil Elvgren was about well styled ladies in interesting and sometimes comic setting
George Petty's clean background and idealized poses graced the pages of Esquire
Bill Ward the orginator of the "fetish" look?
Alberto Varga who replaced Petty at Esquire, is better known as the illustrator at Playboy under the name Vargas. (he lost the right to use his name when he left Esquire)
